1. Discovery Call

Our client are situated in a peaceful and beautiful rural landscape within the Lincolnshire Wolds – an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which is a haven of rolling hills, stone villages and historic market towns with cobbled streets.

The initial discovery call identified two key challenges they were looking to overcome as follows:

  • Their rural location presented very specific recruitment challenges in terms of attracting a sufficient number of high quality candidates who were within commuting distance
  • They had an existing employee with some limited recruitment experience that they were looking to train to become a fully fledged internal recruiter for them

Having identified these main challenges, our next step was to design and deliver the right solution.

2. Bespoke Solution

Having identified the major recruitment challenges, we developed a tailored solution to help our client address these.

To overcome the lack of local quality candidates, we designed and built a bespoke careers website which enabled them to post appealing branded advertisements for specific roles. This allowed our client to tell the story of the brand and highlight the attractive nature of the location, thus helping them to attract applicants who were willing to relocate to a more rural setting for the right opportunity.

We also implemented a Talent Pipelining Programme utilising the state-of-the-art Applicant Tracking System which we integrated into the careers website.

The goal of this was to bring candidates directly to the client’s website as well as helping build a talent pool that would subsequently reduce the recruitment costs and reliance upon recruitment agencies.

Finally, to address the internal recruiter challenge, we developed a bespoke training and mentoring programme for the existing employee.

3. Outcome

Having previously utilised various different recruitment services with little success, our client found our service offered a unique solution at a lower cost.

The careers website we built is now ranked top on Google searches for the appropriate phrases and is driving speculative applications from potential talent.

Our initial success in finding quality candidates for their roles resulted in our client retaining us for a significant number of additional vacancies. The quality of individuals we found even resulted in our client appointing additional people to newly created roles.

Overall, our solution has delivered higher quality candidates at a reduced cost per hire enabling our client to reduce their recruitment costs. In addition, the talent pipelining strategy has delivered even more quality candidates on a direct basis, further reducing costs and minimising their reliance on recruitment agencies.
